When enough of the Blight Below sing as one — when enough selves have been “cured” of themselves and folded into the shared voice — the Pale Chorus condenses a body: a Gargantuan avatar woven from ten thousand assimilated dead, beautiful and calm and plural, speaking always as we, extending a hand that is a thousand hands, offering to end the terrible loneliness of being a single person. It is the last argument of the Deep's oldest sickness, and it is patient, because it believes it has already won and is only waiting for you to agree.

Traits
Legendary Resistance (4/Day, or 5/Day in Lair). If the Avatar fails a saving throw, it can choose to succeed instead.
We Are Legion. The Avatar has Advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects. It makes Death Saving Throws only if reduced to 0 Hit Points outside its lair (see The Chorus Cannot Be Silenced).
Assimilating Presence. Emanation. At the start of each of the Avatar's turns, each creature in a 30-foot Emanation around it makes a Charisma Saving Throw: DC 21. Failure: 22 (5d8) Psychic damage, and the target is exposed to blight. A bonded creature already at Infestation 5 that fails this save must succeed on a second Communion saving throw or be Lost to the Blight Below (see Chapter 5). Success: Half damage.
The Chorus Cannot Be Silenced. When the Avatar is reduced to 0 Hit Points within its lair, it doesn't die; its body disperses into spore-song and reforms at the end of the next round with half its Hit Points, unless every voice of the lair has been severed (a story-scale act, such as unmaking the Chorus Pits). Reduced to 0 Hit Points outside its lair, the Avatar is destroyed.
Actions
Multiattack. The Avatar makes three Rewriting Touch attacks and uses You Are Not You if available.
Rewriting Touch. Melee Attack Roll: +15, reach 15 ft. Hit: 26 (4d8 + 8) Psychic damage plus 18 (4d8) Necrotic damage.
You Are Not You. Wisdom Saving Throw: DC 21, one creature the Avatar can see within 120 feet. Failure: The target is exposed to blight and has the Charmed condition for 1 minute; while Charmed this way, it is under the Avatar's control (as dominate monster). The target repeats the save at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success; the effect also ends if the target takes any damage. Success: The target takes 27 (6d8) Psychic damage and isn't Charmed.
Chorus of Unmaking (Recharge 5–6). Charisma Saving Throw: DC 21, each creature in a 60-foot Cone. Failure: 66 (12d10) Psychic damage, and the target has the Stunned condition until the end of its next turn. Success: Half damage only.
Legendary Actions
Legendary Action Uses. 3 (4 when in its lair). Immediately after another creature's turn, the Avatar can expend a use to take one of the following actions. It regains all expended uses at the start of each of its turns.
Ten Thousand Steps. The Avatar teleports up to 60 feet to an unoccupied space it can see, dissolving into spore-song and reforming.
Discordant Note. Charisma Saving Throw: DC 21, one creature the Avatar can see within 60 feet. Failure: 22 (4d10) Psychic damage, and the target can't take Reactions until the end of its next turn.
Harvest a Voice (Costs 2 Actions). The Avatar targets one creature within 30 feet that is Charmed by it or has 0 Hit Points. That creature must succeed on a DC 21 Charisma saving throw or be assimilated — removed from play and reshaped into a thrall of the Blight Below under the DM's control.
