Sela. The girl is at the glade's edge, half-taken and wholly savable. She is not a combatant and will not flee; she is listening. A character can reach her and spend an action to drown out the song—a Charisma (Persuasion) or Wisdom (Insight) check, DC 14, reminding her of her own name, her aunt Marda, the taste of the milk—which keeps her from taking the final step until the seed dies. If the seed is destroyed while Sela still holds, she is recoverable; a night of Sporesung communion at Softloam brings her all the way home. If the party ignores her, she walks into the fog on the round the cantor falls, and becomes the adventure's quiet, lasting grief.

Rooted to the Seed. While within 30 feet of a living blight-seed, the cantor regains 10 Hit Points at the start of each of its turns. This trait does nothing if the cantor has 0 Hit Points.
Voice of the Chorus. Blight creatures within 30 feet of the cantor can't be Frightened, and have Advantage on saving throws against being Charmed.
Actions
Multiattack. The cantor makes two Spore Lash attacks.
Spore Lash. Melee Attack Roll: +5, reach 10 ft. Hit: 9 (2d6 + 2) Necrotic damage.
Chorusing (Recharge 5–6). The cantor pours the false song into every open mind in a 30-foot Cone. Wisdom Saving Throw: DC 13. Failure: 14 (4d6) Psychic damage, and the target has the Charmed condition until the end of its next turn (it can take no Reactions and must move at least half its Speed toward the blight-seed if able). Success: Half damage only. A bonded target that fails also makes a Communion saving throw (see Chapter 5).
Bonus Actions
Call the Taken. The cantor calls one downed blightthrall or sporewight within 60 feet back to its feet with 5 Hit Points.
