Copyist, of the lane behind the Weighhouse, trained by Maritgen Halma and sworn to no notary, employed by the household at Kolkgracht 14 from 1628 to copy inventories, letters, and lists at three stivers the sheet. His hand has been claimed for the bundle at lot 58 by a dealer of this city and for the manuscript at lot 72 by nobody at all. The copying account of that household closes on the third of Winemonth 1635, and no discharge is entered against it. This name does not stand in the descriptions of this catalogue. It stands in the papers, and the index is set from the papers.
[in red ink] So the name may be printed at the back of the book and not at lot 58. I had letters from him and I know the hand: he copied for money and he copied what he was told, and both of those are in the letters. She has left him out of her descriptions and her own index has fetched him back in. C.O.
[in pencil] there is a collar in this sale with this name in it. the description gives the measure and the stains and stops there.

Traits
His Water Runs Where He Stands. The floor within 10 feet of him is wet, and stays wet for an hour after he has gone. Unattended paper, ink, wax, and chalk within that area are spoiled in 1 minute. The area is difficult terrain for creatures that cannot see him.
He Does Not Attack. Wenninck never takes a hostile action against a creature that has not laid a hand on him or on the document he is copying. He walks past guards, into strongrooms, and through a sale in progress, and he goes where the papers are.
Rest by the Name. A creature within 30 feet that speaks aloud the name written in the collar of the coat offered as lot 54 stops him where he stands. He finishes the line he is writing, sets the pen down, and is at rest. Nothing else in this catalogue does it, and no amount of damage does it for longer than a night.
Actions
Fair Copy. He copies a document he can see, taking 1 minute for a sheet. The copy is in a clerk's hand, on whatever paper is nearest, and it is true where the original is false: an interpolation appears struck out, an added leaf appears as an added leaf, a purchased attestation appears unsigned, and a name that has been written over another name shows both. The copy is not evidence in any court of this city. Every officer who has read one has believed it.
Drowned Grasp. Melee Attack: +4 to hit, reach 5 ft. Hit: 12 (2d8 + 3) cold damage, and the target must succeed on a DC 13 Constitution saving throw or be unable to speak or cry out until the end of its next turn, its mouth being full of water that is not there.
