Suppuration, the Weeping Seed

At the heart of the Rustgyre — the permanent blight-storm the Blight Below guards with its dead — a seed has been kept, and fed, and sung to for an age. It is blooming now. Suppuration is a Gargantuan cathedral of weeping blight, a garden that is also a mind, and it means to plant itself in the Deep's soft heart and remake every living thing into a petal of one enormous, grieving flower.

Traits

Legendary Resistance (3/Day, or 4/Day in Lair). If Suppuration fails a saving throw, it can choose to succeed instead.

Blight Ascendant. Emanation. At the start of each of Suppuration's turns, each creature in a 30-foot Emanation around it makes a Constitution Saving Throw: DC 20. Failure: 17 (5d6) Necrotic damage, and the target is exposed to blight (a failed Communion saving throw adds 1 Infestation; see Chapter 5). Success: Half damage.

Rooted Colossus. Suppuration can't be moved against its will and has Advantage on saving throws against any effect that would move it or knock it Prone.

Seed of the End. When Suppuration is reduced to 0 Hit Points, it doesn't die but goes dormant, and it blooms anew after 1 bloom (about 40 days) unless it is reduced to 0 Hit Points by Fire or Radiant damage, or its seed is cut out and burned while it is dormant.

Actions

Multiattack. Suppuration makes three Weeping Bough attacks and uses Bloom of Assimilation if available.

Weeping Bough. Melee Attack Roll: +14, reach 20 ft. Hit: 25 (4d8 + 7) Bludgeoning damage plus 14 (4d6) Necrotic damage.

Bloom of Assimilation. Constitution Saving Throw: DC 20, one creature Suppuration can see within 120 feet. Failure: 44 (8d10) Psychic damage, and the target is exposed to blight. If this damage reduces the target to 0 Hit Points, it doesn't die but is reshaped over 1 minute into a Rustgyre Chorus-Thrall under the DM's control. Success: Half damage only.

Rustgyre Spew (Recharge 5–6). Constitution Saving Throw: DC 20, each creature in a 60-foot Cone. Failure: 66 (12d10) Necrotic damage, and the target is exposed to blight and has the Poisoned condition (save ends at end of turn). Success: Half damage only.

Legendary Actions

Legendary Action Uses. 3 (4 when in its lair). Immediately after another creature's turn, Suppuration can expend a use to take one of the following actions. It regains all expended uses at the start of each of its turns.

Weep. Suppuration makes one Weeping Bough attack.

Creeping Root. Roots surge through a 15-foot-radius area Suppuration can see within 90 feet. The area becomes Difficult Terrain, and each creature in it makes a DC 20 Dexterity saving throw or has the Restrained condition (escape DC 20).

Spore Chorus (Costs 2 Actions). Constitution Saving Throw: DC 20, each creature in a 20-foot-radius area Suppuration can see within 90 feet. Failure: 22 (4d10) Poison damage, and the target has the Charmed condition until the end of its next turn, hearing the seed promise an end to all its pain.
