Level 5 Abjuration ()

Casting Time: 10 minutes
Range: Touch
Components: V, S, M (a lead seal and a written bill naming the sum, which the spell consumes)
Duration: Until dispelled

You name a sum of money and touch an object no larger than a cart and weighing no more than 500 pounds. The sum appears upon the object in figures a finger high and cannot be scraped, painted over, or washed off while the lien holds.

While a creature carries, drags, or hauls the object farther than 100 feet from the place where you laid the lien, that creature's Speed is halved and it has Disadvantage on attack rolls and ability checks. If the object is taken more than 1 mile from that place, each creature moving it must succeed on a DC 15 Strength saving throw at the end of every hour or set the object down and be unable to take it up again for 24 hours. Beasts and constructs are not exempt; a cart is not a way around the spell.

While the lien holds you know the direction of the object and roughly how far off it is, at any distance.

The lien ends when the named sum is paid in coin, in the presence of the object, to you or to a person named in the bill; when the object is brought back within 100 feet of where the lien was laid; or when the lien is dispelled. Part payment does nothing whatever. When the sum is paid the figures go out of the object, and a quittance stands in their place, in the hand of the person who took the money.
