Wondrous item, common
Each lead can be cast this way once per day. As an action, cast a lead into water: you learn the true depth beneath it and the nature of the bottom, exactly. If a creature has died in that water within 300 feet of where the lead struck bottom and its body has not been taken out, the line lies over toward the body and you learn the direction and the distance to the nearest 10 feet.
The tallow comes up clean and cold, and it comes up cold in any water. The leads say nothing of who, or when, or how long the body has lain there. Cast in water where nothing lies, they hang plumb and are a plain and rather good set of leads.
