Once per dawn, when you would drop to 0 hit points while wearing it, you drop to 1 hit point instead. The stitching of the lining parts where the blow fell, and the words that part cannot be read again.
Until the lining is worked afresh by a hand that can read the psalm — a day's work, and 5 marks at the Beguinage, which is what they ask — the coat is armour and nothing else.
