Wondrous item, rare (requires attunement)
Once per day you can wind the movement (an action) and set a sheet of paper in the frame. The figure draws for 11 minutes and will not be hurried. If it is stopped, held, or moved while it draws, the sheet is spoiled and the day's use is spent.
If you place in the figure's open left hand an object that a person carried in life, the drawing is a true likeness of that person's face as it was at the hour they last held that object, whether or not you have ever seen them. A creature who knew the person recognises the likeness without a check, and a drawing so made is received as a likeness by the courts and offices of this city.
The figure does not draw hands. Every likeness ends at the wrists. No winding, oiling, or adjustment of the movement has ever altered this, and the maker's list accounts for every part.
With nothing in its left hand, it draws the woman.
